Alumni Basketball Game and Fundraiser Was a Big Success

A special thanks goes out to everyone who helped make our alumni basketball game fundraiser a blessing for the family of Ty Lewis. Ty is a former Denver Eagles athlete, whose parents were key players in the formative years of our organization. Ty is battling Hodgkins Lymphoma, and his story was featured on 9News last fall. http://www.9news.com/story/sports/high-school/2015/09/05/pomona-ty-lewis-coach-fights-hodgkins-lymphoma/71624960/

Our December 21st fundraiser included the usual great competition between Eagles alumni and our current varsity basketball teams, as well as shoot outs and a fantastic silent auction. By God’s grace , we were able to raise $2300 to help support Ty and his family as they battle this disease. If you missed the event, there are three ways you can still help:

· Bid on one or more of the three great items we have left from the Silent Auction: Colorado Ballet tickets, ChoirFire Semester, Denver Eagles Basketball Season Pass (see the info below for bidding instructions)
· Go to https://www.gofundme.com/tylewis and make a donation
· PRAY for this precious family!

Denver Eagles hopes to make the Alumni Basketball Game an annual opportunity for ministry. Look for information next Fall on how you can be a part, and please support the following corporate sponsors who helped make the 2015 event a success: Chick-Fil-A, Tim Hawkins Comedy, Enstrom Candies, Vera Bradley – Castle Rock, Denver Nuggets, Choirfire, Bayswater Exploration & Production.

Fall Sports Wrap-Up

Congratulations to all our Fall athletes and teams on great seasons:

Boys High School Soccer posted an outstanding 14-1-0 record and captured the FRCAA title under the leadership of Coach Felix. Congratulations to all of our terrific players and their families.

Our High School Cross Country team had another great year with 9 runners competing in 6 races. 7 of the 9 runners set personal best times in the St. Mary’s Invitational against some very tough competition. In our end-of-season 5K fun run with the Rocky Mountain Road Runners, Jesse Schamp and Josh Brewer finished 1st and 2nd among the men and Lacey Ford and Jillian Hatter finished 1st and 2nd among the women.

Girls High School Volleyball made great strides this year, improving in offense, putting up a scrappy defense against tough teams, and winning several more games than last season. Denver Eagles players contributed to an All-Star Game victory for the FRCAA North team. Thanks to Coach Tim Dieterich for guiding this team to a new level.

TEAMWORK was the name of the game as Coach Wichael and 12 terrific boys came together to represent the Eagles in the Slammers 12 and under Fall Baseball league. Improvement abounded in pitching, batting, and fielding for all boys, as the young Eagles put up some wins against teams that had been playing together for multiple seasons.

Jr Hi Girls and Boys Basketball just finished up a terrific season against several FRCAA and Metro Denver Teams. The Girls posted an undefeated record under the leadership of Coach Rebecca Semin. The Boys B and A Teams made an impression on several teams, posting a combined record of 23W and 2L under the coaching of Andy Truitt and Rick Semin.

We will have a 5K and a 1 mile family fun run/walk. The family fun run will start at 9:00 AM and the 5K will start at 9:30 AM.
