2. ATHLETIC BACKGROUND

3. STATEMENT OF FAITH

From Article 2 of the Denver Eagles’ Constitution, our statement of faith reads:

• We believe that only the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God, our authority and standard.

• We believe man was created in God’s image, but because of his fall into sin, he became spiritually dead, in need of salvation from the penalty and power of sin.

• We believe in the incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ as perfectly divine, perfectly human and in His substitutionary death for our redemption by the shedding of His blood on the cross.

• We believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ, His return and the resurrection of His people.

• We believe that the gift of eternal life is available to all men and those who receive Christ, by faith, are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become the children of God.

• We believe the Holy Spirit is co-equal with God, the Father and God, the Son and that He indwells, seals and fills us, by faith, with His power for the work of His service and God’s glory.

• We believe that the church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit for the equipping and for holiness, and exists to save the lost and edify the saved.

• We believe that Jesus Christ will one day return and reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

4. COACH’S CODE OF CONDUCT

Those in leadership positions are held to a higher standard. Awareness and example are important so that we lead in a way that honors God and does not cause anyone to stumble. In this context, we expect each Coach to:

A. Teach the fundamentals of the sport & build on each player’s ability to the benefit of the team.

B. Challenge and edify the players both in practice and during games, so each has an opportunity to improve their skills in the sport and their character in Christ.

C. Display a positive and encouraging attitude regardless of mistakes made by a player, official, or coach.

D. Show respect at all times toward all players, coaches, and fans (including those from the other team), and officials.

E. Deal with any conflict, concerns, questions, or ideas with players, coaches, or fans in tactful, quiet, one-on-one discussions, preferably before or after games and/or practices.

F. Limit your authority to coach – that is, refrain from counseling, pastoring, or serving in any other relationship with any player.

G. Support parental authority – for example, engage a player’s parent in any issues or concerns, support the parent’s position in training, and direct the player to the parents for life guidance.

H. Limit physical contact with any player, especially avoiding “bad touch” such as prolonged hugs, and slaps on the bottom.

I. Avoid compromising situations – for example, refrain from one-on-one private instruction, and driving players home (without the express, written consent of the player’s parent).

J. Refrain from drinking (alcohol), smoking, or using questionable language around players and parents.

K. Be characterized by Christian conduct both on and off the court with actions and attitudes that both support the Denver Eagles organization and glorify our God.

L. Submit to the authority of the Denver Eagles Board of Directors, Athletic Director and sport specific Commissioners and support unity among all levels of your sport.

I understand and agree with the Denver Eagles Coach’s Code of Conduct. I further understand and agree that violation of any of the above may result in documented verbal counseling, and repeated offense will result in immediate termination of my position as coach.
